The Solari – Tortona area of Milan is the place of choice for showrooms, art ateliers and art-house cinema. Here the old disused brick factories have been transformed into a “home” for art and design, thus changing the neighborhood. Known today as 'the Milan Design District', it is particularly lively and well visited during the Salone del Mobile (Milan Furniture Fair) and the Fuorisalone (Milan Design Week). It’s here in this area, full of cultural and social events, where we meet Martina, in her cozy and colorful home. Her passion for cooking began as a child growing up with her mother and grandmother, who were both originally from Emilia and true zdaure (homemakers)! Today Martina, in addition to being a Cesarina, runs a small tavern that serves primarily Lombard dishes, which are distinguished by the Emilian culinary influences. She enjoys preparing dishes like tagliatelle or risotto, braised beef, which gives off an explosion of flavors, and pasticcio di polenta (corn meal with vegetables and/or meat). Her meals end on a sweet note with apple tart or chocolate cake.
